Going green is always a step that includes organic foods and their usage. The U.S. organic farming is one of the most fast growing industries in the last 20 years. There is nothing bad in this, but there is something disturbing in the term “organic farming”.

Living green is good and healthy for anyone, but do we really know what the identity of the organic farming is: this is the question that provokes many to think that there are still many unknown ingredients in the food we are consuming.

One of these definitions is that organic farming is promoting ecological balance and conserving biodiversity.

Of course, there is a list with allowed and prohibited substances, as well as a guide for organic buyers. The problem is one – there are thousands of products on the market that are labeled organic.

If you search more information about them, you will actually see they include some ingredients that are prohibited in the list of the National Organic Program. Yet, they are on the market and they are still labeled as green, not to mention they are expensive.

Therefore, you shall learn more about what the Program really label as organic, in order to avoid buying expensive products, which aren’t exactly organic or green. Buy only those products that are made out of organically produced ingredients with organic processing, because this means the product is 100 percent organic.

There are companies that are selling expensive “organic” foods, but they are labeled as “made with organic ingredients”. Yet, their sales are high, just because people are fooled by the label.

The experts are advising you to avoid buying products, which aren’t labeled as “100 percent green”, because this identifies the real organic food. Anything else or any other label, especially those with “70 percent organic ingredients” or just “organic” are not certified to be completely green and organic. The food price is also an issue, when it comes to organic products.

According to the recent statistic, the price differences between organic and conventional food is really impressive. For instance, compared with the conventional eggs, the organic ones cost 200 percent more, which is a concerning issue.

Therefore, the economists are trying to minimize the price differentiation between conventional and organic food. This is also a problem, not to mention that there are claims we pay double price for products that are not even entirely organic.
