Are you aware that this is the Chinese Year of the Tiger? A massive publicity drive has begun in India to save tiger from extinction, where tiger is the national animal.

There is a conservation group called WWF-India which has recruited celebrities and sports stars to help in raising the awareness levels of the tigers’ plight, citing government estimates that there are just over 1400 tigers left in the wild.

Tigers were once hunted for sport, but now all tiger hunting has been banned worldwide.

Unfortunately, there are still poachers who hunt the tigers not only for sport, but also to smuggle their various body parts to China for use as medicinal items as well as aphrodisiacs.

You can also become fan of tigers on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to show your support.
