Summer is well-known for the fact that this is the time when everything is filled with insects. If you have problems with bugs as well, for sure you thought about pesticides. If this is the case it is better to think about those that contain natural ingredients so that they won’t damage the environment.

Fight Summer Insects

Liquid soap

You could use liquid soap to protect your plants indoors and outdoors. For this pesticide you should mix a couple of tablespoons of dishwashing liquid or liquid soap with some water and add the mixture to a spray bottle. The majority of the plants tolerate this kind of pesticide.

In order to stop the insects from returning to your plants you should spray the leaves, topsoil and stem. This kind of pesticide is useful in case of the mealybugs, aphids, mites and whiteflies.

Stronger soap formula

If you notice that the previous remedy doesn’t work, think about mixing four cloves of finely chopped garlic, a small finely chopped onion, a tablespoon of cayenne pepper, two tablespoons of liquid soap and a quart of water. Mix the ingredients and let the mixture set for an hour. Add the mixture to a spray bottle and spray the plants with it.

Spider mites and cabbageworms

If these insects are creating a disaster in your garden you should mix two tablespoons of sea salt with a gallon of water and simply spray the plants with this water mixture.

Roses and tomatoes

If you have these plants in your garden, for sure you want to protect them against the insects. In this case try mixing a cup of tomato leaves, a couple of tablespoons of cornstarch, and two pints of water. You just have to spray the plants with this mixture.

Why to use homemade pesticides?

When fighting with insects it is important to opt for the natural pesticides because they protect you and your family as well as your plants without damaging the surrounding areas. If you happen to have problems with the fleas, you could be using wintergreen and spearmint oil to keep them at bay.

In order to offer continuous protection to your plants, you should reapply the pesticides after a rain. If you refrigerate the natural pesticides, these can be used for several weeks. Every other week you should prepare a new dose of the pesticide to make sure that you always have some at hand.
