Posted on Apr 08, 2010 | Comments 2
Known as an intermittent renewable energy resource, wind turbines are the fastest growing alternative energy segment, outpacing geothermal, solar and hydro power.
Wind turbines harness the power of the wind and use it to generate electricity. When the wind turns the blades, shaft that is connected to the generator spins, and makes electricity without the burning of fossil fuels.
Take a look inside this wind turbine to know the various parts of it.

Pretty amazing to see what goes on inside a large scale windmill turbine. They look so simple from the outside.

Cool picture of the inside of a wind turbine. I hope we see more of these types of wind farms soon so we can ween ourselves off of fossil fuels.
