NASA has done extensive research on this, in preparation for long space flights to Mars. A recent article on this cited their top 4: Areca Palm, Mother-in-law tongue (increases oxygen best), and Golden Pothos (processes formaldehyde and other toxins) are 3 of them. Areca Palms are very large and I've had trouble keeping them alive. They should have a month out-of-doors every 3 months (not possible in temperate climates). I opted for Mother-in-law tongue and Golden Pothos. All these others may also be good, but if you don't have a lot of space and don't interested in a lot of plant care, these 2 are wonderful. Both need very little care and can take neglect.

"Everyone very well knows the use of garlic as a placebo for innumerable health conditions. Even this plant can be used for the same. You can use the leaves, roots, flowers, etc., to treat cold, fever, sore throat and other breathing problems."

Perhaps the author understood how funny this statement is? The rest of you would be wise to read about placebo before using it as a treatment for anything. lol.
